APPG Launches Inquiry into the Future of Gambling Regulation in the UK

The All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Gambling Reform has started a big inquiry. This inquiry will look at the future of gambling rules in the United Kingdom.

The review will look at the progress made since the UK Government’s White Paper was released. It will also check if the current legal framework works well in a digital world.

The inquiry comes amid continued concern over gambling-related harm and the adequacy of existing regulatory tools to protect vulnerable consumers. The group will examine whether stronger interventions or structural reforms are required, including the potential development of a new Gambling Act.

“The last Government’s White Paper was a good start. It began to tackle some issues in today’s gambling industry,” said Sir Iain Duncan Smith MP, Chair of the APPG. “However, we need to do much more. Our rules must be updated for the digital age to keep people safe.”

The group will look into whether we need stronger actions or changes to the system. This includes possibly creating a new Gambling Act. To support the inquiry, the APPG is inviting written evidence from organisations and individuals.
