The Thai Government is expected to make a decision on Monday regarding the future of the casino-entertainment complex bill, which was initially designated as urgent legislation.
As reported by the Bangkok Post, the bill’s progress may be postponed or withdrawn altogether following recent changes in the cabinet.
Chousak Sirinil, Minister of the Prime Minister’s Office and Pheu Thai Party-list MP, said that while a formal withdrawal would typically require a House resolution, it could be done immediately if no objections are raised.
The reconsideration reportedly stems from the Government’s view that the matter requires further study following the appointment of new ministers.
Deputy Transport Minister Manaporn Charoensri confirmed that discussions are ongoing with Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat, who oversees the issue. The proposal is expected to be reviewed at the government whip committee meeting on Monday.

Although the bill was on the current parliamentary session’s agenda, the administration has signalled a shift in legislative priorities, opting to advance an amnesty bill instead.
Meanwhile, the Senate committee studying the proposal has voiced concerns over a perceived lack of transparency. Senator Weeraphan Suwannamai said the government might be withholding key details and has invited a representative of suspended Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra to address 12 major concerns on 17 July.
These include whether casino income is central to the project’s financial model, the alleged pre-approval of five casino sites, potential legal issues surrounding land use at Klong Toey Port, and the transparency of the licensing process for operators.
